Area Police
Roughly 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they added.
Police then discovered multiple other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report early analysis show the substance was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; investigators are not yet informed of any harm in association with the incident," they commented.
City officials announced they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for information.
A senior representative stated the attack made him stunned and needed to be resolved promptly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on social media, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a gunman targeting residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
